ABOUT US
Fakenham Ukes is a merry band of fun-loving, fund-raising local people from all walks of life who love to make music together and entertain others throughout North Norfolk. From professional musicians to gifted amateurs and enthusiastic beginners they perform a wide range of contemporary popular music from the inevitable George Formby to George Ezra to country and western and the Beatles. Sing-alongs are encouraged and usually unstoppable anyway!
Most members are retired, the oldest members being frisky ninety year olds, the band aims to have fun and make fun for others at their gigs. They play in Care Homes, at village fetes, carnivals, private parties usually for a nominal fee. All monies raised going to local charities and good causes.
Our group meet for a practice session each Tuesday morning from 10am to midday.

Graham Thomas, our enthusiastic band leader
Graham is one of the originators of the Fakenham Ukes. The band was formed in the spring of 2016 when Graham along with one other existing member, Laurie, answered an advert in our local Sun Newspaper for people to form a Ukulele group. At that time the 3 of them were non players but soon found they enjoyed playing and quickly improved. Over the recent years the band has grown steadily and now has a membership of 40 individuals of which there is a mix of musical levels. In the recent years the band has become very popular playing at several types of venues, raising many thousands of pounds for local needy individuals, families and charities.
